According to The Hollywood Reporter, a retro reboot of the cult show Charmed is currently in the works at The CW, which means at least three of the world’s favorite witches are officially returning to TV.
The source reports that the show will be a “reimagining” of the original series and will take place in 1976, a couple decades before the Halliwell sisters won over our hearts IRL. (Charmed was on the air from 1998 to 2006.) It’s not yet clear how the reboot will be connected to the original Charmed, but so far, they’ve assembled a pretty stellar team to make the show as magical as possible. Both Jane the Virgin’s showrunner (Jennie Snyder Urman) and writers (Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin) will be involved in bringing the reboot to life, and fans couldn’t be more ready to see it.
However, not everyone is super thrilled about a possible reboot — including the original show’s stars. As Vulture points out, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan have both been outspoken in the past about their being against a Charmed remake, taking to social media in 2013 to say not enough time had passed since the show went off the air.
The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.

They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood.
